Barakamon !! Calligraphy in anime ...

GSo this post is about an anime from the season summer 2014
:) I feel happy for doing something that is actually relatively recent and not old things ( because then there'll be a higher chance that people will read this shit )
(( not that I'm expecting viewership since I know there's fault in me too , after all I take more hiatuses than actually do stuffs))
So ,
This time I'm going to write about slice of life anime with special emphasis on barakamon which is a slice of life anime which is essentially about a calligrapher in a dellima ; whether to create art that wins prizes , but is considered boring or do something original and exciting that maynot win him any critical appreciation .

Now not narrating any of the further event that transpire , he ends up having to spend some time on a remote island because he punches a gallant owner for calling his work orthodox and boring , so his father , also a calligrapher tells him to cool off and spend some time on this particular island.

This is where the fun starts as he meets the warmhearted locals , the feisty children and obnoxious teens of the island

The story is about how his perspectives of life changes , how little things in life seem to bring so much joy and exitement
How valuable lessons can be learnt like accepting a loss and moving on ...

Naru who is the other character worthy of mention from this anime who bonds with our protagonist in ways that bring a warm smile to us , haru lives with her grandpa and spends her day goofing and playing around doing things that children love to do , ( collecting bugs , running around , annoying people while they are doing important things ....(( the list is quite extensive )) )

The charm of the show is something which is very difficult to put into words and yet extremely universal
So check it out  !!

Berserk !! Why now ?? Just because ...

Ok so , I know that most seasoned people in anime know about berserk , and for good reason . It has been top 1st manga on myanimelist and because of that alone is with a mention in many a veteran otaku talk.

The reason I mention berserk now is because ( ahhh it's a long story but I'll tell it to you guys anyway since that's what a blog is supposed to do )
So here goes ,

This is a long time ago , my anime mentor at the time ( even though I have surpassed him now ) ((basically we were just friends who were into anime back in high  school  )) brought up berserk after a summer break saying that it was the best shit ever ( referring to the manga ) , I was  skeptical at first but I decided to give it a go .

Here's the mistake I made ,
I read the first volume from a certain site ( mangareader.net ) who have all the pages jumbled up , and so obviously nothing made sense to me and I soon dropped it at that.

After a few years ( fast forwarding to present time ) I ended up watching the trilogy movies for the show hoping that the story would be at least coherent in the animation , but I didn't expect too much from it ,

Boy was I wrong ...

I was pleasantly amazed at how fluidly the story flowed and the deep but simple character that GUTS has , more so the other main cast like CASCA , and GRIFFITH felt extremely coherent and the show had something in it that made it more addicting than twinkies .

While I have to say that the story isn't exactly for kids , people are gonna watch it anyway , and u don't give a shit about what I say (not that I care either) , but there is a lot of gore and violence not to mention other stuff , (nudge nudge , wink wink )

But all in all , it was absolutely great stuff , maybe a bit too heavy on the CG (computer graphics (for the suckers that don't know the terminology))

but the music was great , and the action was amazing , side characters a bit dull (but hey , they're side characters , no one gives a shit about them right ...(sarcasm))

The main character of this series , GUTS , does receive a special mention , since even after the three movies , we haven't even scratched the surface I how deep his character is

" pay heed , hard times are going to befall upon you , the only way for you to survive your destiny is struggle , squirm and make your way through "
-the ghost rider lookalike guy

This line best summarizes his behavior in my opinion , since I have NEVER seen such a tenacious sonofabi*ch in all my extensive anime career , seems like he symbolizes his name , that is GUTS , because one thing I'm sure of that this freak of nature bastard has a tonn of 'em.

So for all those wanna be's or otaku-veterans that might have been fooled like I was , I recommend to you , berserk  , both the manga , anime or even the movies ...

And btw , you bet your ass I'm gonna follow up on the manga after all that ...

Dying dream;
Hopefully someone other than me will read my blog someday .....

Steins;Gate (THE VISUAL NOVEL)

When I first watched Steins;gate when it first came out , knowing that it was from a visual novel , I had little to no expectations of the series , let alone the visual novel . Boy how wrong was I ...

After enjoying the anime adaptation and the movie immensely , I felt like the visual novel had to be given a try ,honestly im not a very big fan of visual novels but what the hell its steins;gate .
This post will be in parts as I clear parts of the game , so stay tuned .

Log horizon VS Sword art online

Now i know i might get a lot of hate for this but this is my honest opinion,
Sword art online

it was an eye candy with great animation and music but if it was not one thing , it was NOT an MMORPG anime. I realize this even more after watching some of log horizon , sword art online was an anime about a (insert any boring protagonist form an anime nowadays) who is a total noob (even if he dosnt say so) in an MMORPG . One thing about MMORPG's that if people don't know GOING SOLO DOESN'T WORK . no matter how amazing you are (unless you are the main character of an anime) . plus the stupid facts that when a guild fights the boss , nothng happens but when kirito goes alone he can easily finish him off conveniently having just enough hp left to survive . the second game was even worse considering it was supposed to be an MMORPG . the anime itself was not so bad though , it was entertaining and great to look at .
Log Horizon

I was skeptical when it first came out since the synopsis by ANN made it seem like a cheap rippoff of SAO. Fortunately for me It WAs NOt . Log horizon has pretty good animetion too , just a couple of notches below SAO and the same can be said about the music but the rest of the show cannot be more different .
I like the way it started since i thought to myself what would be my forst reaction if was trapped in an MMORPG the answer simple enuf ' Enjoy the hell untill it lasts ' the same case with log horizon , the veteran players are not the east bothered that they are trapped in a game and rather than asking why they are too busy playing and exploring the new update patch for the half gaia project . Essentially the main character shiroe , an enchanter (you can already feel it is more of an MMORPG) has a PERSONALITY and character traits . the show dosn't have a set goal i mind which is why it is like an MMORPG in which you don't have a goal (at least i don't) . so ot is true to an MMOrPG and so far entertaining as hell as we see shiroe who initially dislikes guilds , comes to realize the importance and creates his own and sets off to explore this failiar yet unknown world of ELDER TALE .
So as an anime i found log horizon to be 100000000x much better and i hope to see more of it in the near future .

Why anime?

The question I have asked myself more often than i can remember " Why do I watch Anime ?". Surely I have better things to do. My life is more than the 16'' laptop can offer . Surely I am missing something.
A lot of people might have asked themselves the same ...

Greetings ! People of the world that is so wide it encompasses the earth and yet so easy to explore that i can do so in my bedroom (yes i mean the internet)
This is my first entry preceding many more to come (hopefully).

Let me start by introducing myself ,
I am the famous " Anime Wizard " but people also know me as "koutsuna" .
So now you know me.

This is not going to be the lame sh*t you've heard many times over like 'I started watching anime on toonami' or 'i got into anime through naruto' (no offence to naruto)(i secretly meant to offend naruto lol)
But this entry will go more into what anime is , should be , and will be
I will try to keep this as brief as possible (i sincerely mean that)(unsuccessfully though)

At least to me anime is something that i consider my own . My own little Palace of awesomeness and emotion . All that exist within are fellow brethren ( anime community ) and the rest of the world is my enemy .
I have a special bond with others who enjoy the same medium that i do , a bond that probably i have with none others .

For most, it can also be an escape from reality ( not really as bad as it may sound ) . Frankly reality is just not that great when you can explore fantastic worlds , meet characters next to perfect and see sights which you had never hoped to behold (all within your 16 '' laptop)

-The real world is just a crappy game. The ideal world can only be found within a game. But an ideal can be found within a crappy game. - keima katsuragi (the world god only knows)

There is an ongoing debate whether is it worth the time if what you're doing is not real no matter how you much you enjoy it . BUT as i always have believed "The world doesn't get to decide whether my life is boring, fun, or ordinary. That's my decision to make." So me and many others like me CAN feel safe and enjoy the little haven i call anime.

That being said there are other things I like to do (other than to watch anime i mean). They are:

  • To talk about anime
  • To blog about anime
  • To watch/read anime reviews
  • Fantasize about anime at night
  • Fantasize about anime in broad daylight
  •  Wondering what anime to watch next
  • Play anime games

Are some of the things i also like to do.
So next time you ask yourself "Why anime?"
Think about this ,"You don't need a reason to love something . You just do ."
